Does the S.Sense System replace the controller in my existing sprinkler system?

No. Your current controller still decides when irrigation cycles can start. The S.Sense System simply prevents the watering cycle if there’s enough moisture to keep your plants healthy until the next scheduled watering.

What’s the difference between the S.Sense Receiver and the sprinkler controller I use now?

Your sprinkler controller is basically a timer. It can tell your sprinkler what day and time to water your plants, but it doesn’t know how much moisture is in your soil. That’s why most sprinkler systems still run even when it’s raining. The S.Sense Receiver makes your sprinkler system smarter by monitoring the moisture in your soil and allowing the sprinkler to run only when it is needed. Just set your controller as you would for the hottest, driest summer day, and let the Receiver do the rest!

My area has “no water” days. Will the S.Sense System work for me?

Yes. Just set your existing controller not to water on restricted days.

How many Sensors do I need?

A single Sensor placed properly will delivery significant water savings. For better control, you can have a separate Sensor for each different watering zone in your sprinkler system. For example, if your front yard gets more sun than your back yard, or if you have plants with different water requirements (such as lawn in one area and cactus in another), you’ll want to have a separate Sensor for each area. You can have as many Sensors as you have watering zones, up to a maximum of 12 per Receiver.

Does the S.Sense Sensor use a lot of power?

No. In fact, the Sensor “sleeps” most of the time to minimize power consumption. This energy efficiency allows each Sensor to run for an entire year on a set of three AAA batteries.

Do I need to worry about damaging the S.Sense Sensor with my lawnmower?

The Sensor’s low-profile design not only means that your lawnmower won’t chop off the top, but also that people won’t trip over it. In fact, we strongly recommend that you write down the Sensor’s location when you install it! After your Sensor has been in the ground for a year, it will be much harder to find than you might expect.

Products ship in 3 to 5 bus days via FEDEX ground. We only ship to US addresses at the moment. The cost for FEDEX ground shipping is $12 for each item.

Digital Sun’s obligation is limited to this refund for any product that does not meet a purchaser’s expectations.
